Ivanović in Karpacz: Montenegro and Poland strengthen cooperation in digitalisation and security

Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović, during his working visit to Poland, met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski, as well as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

The meetings confirmed the friendly and partnership relations between Montenegro and Poland, as well as the mutual commitment to further strengthening cooperation in areas of particular importance for the stability, security and long-term development of the two countries.

At the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs of Poland Krzysztof Gawkowski, the two official discussed opportunities to intensify cooperation in digital transformation, information technology and cybersecurity, as well as the exchange of experience in developing modern digital public services and strengthening institutional capacities.

Ivanović stressed that, alongside the intensification of the European integration process, Montenegro continues to implement reforms aimed at modernising institutions, strengthening administrative and professional capacities, and further aligning with European standards and practices.

The officials exchanged views on opportunities to strengthen links between the relevant institutions and experts of the two countries, taking into account Poland's extensive experience in implementing digital transformation. In this context, they highlighted the importance of direct exchanges of knowledge, experience and best practices, as well as developing concrete forms of cooperation that could contribute to a faster and more effective digital transformation.

Particular attention was paid to the development of digital services for citizens and businesses, the application of new technologies, including the opportunities offered by modern digital solutions, as well as the need to continuously strengthen the resilience of institutions to growing and increasingly complex cyber threats.

The Polish side expressed its readiness to share its experience and expertise with Montenegro in the fields of digitalisation and cybersecurity, particularly in view of the challenges faced by modern states amid accelerated technological transformation.

Montenegro and Poland share the view that digital transformation must be accompanied by stronger institutional resilience and a high level of protection of the digital space. Accordingly, they confirmed their common interest in further developing cooperation and exchanging experience in areas that will play an increasingly important role in economic development, the functioning of institutions and the overall security of the two countries.

Against the broader backdrop of current European and global developments, security and stability were among the central topics discussed by Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović and Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Poland Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

The two officials exchanged views on the contemporary security challenges facing Europe, taking into account the complex geopolitical circumstances and the need for a coordinated, determined and joint response by the Allies. Particular attention was paid to the importance of preserving peace and stability and strengthening collective security.

Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović stressed that Montenegro highly values its substantive and friendly cooperation with Poland, as well as the strong alliance between the two countries within NATO. He particularly emphasised Poland's important role in safeguarding Europe's security architecture and conveyed that Montenegro remains firmly committed to the principles of collective security.

They agreed that Montenegro and Poland, as NATO Allies and countries strongly committed to European and democratic values, share a common interest in a stable, secure and resilient Europe. In this regard, they confirmed their readiness to further intensify political dialogue and translate the existing friendly and partnership ties into even more concrete forms of cooperation.

Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz, for his part, expressed Poland's full support for Montenegro's European integration and his conviction that the two countries, as NATO Allies, will soon also be together in the European Union. He stressed that Poland is fully prepared to provide all forms of expert and technical support in strengthening Montenegro's administrative and defence capacities, and that the two countries will soon establish mechanisms for deeper security cooperation.
