Golden Gate Transit April 2026 Service Changes

Effective Sunday, April 12, 2026

Golden Gate Transit & Ferry service changes in April are the result of a collaborative effort between nine transit and funding agencies to create a more connected, frequent transit network in the Highway 101 corridor.

The Marin-Sonoma Coordinated Transit Service (MASCOTS) Plan was created to grow ridership and improve effectiveness of public transit services offered in the Highway 101 corridor.

Service Changes by Route

Scroll down for a list of changes you can expect to see on April 12, 2026 by route.

Route 101

Map

  • No longer operates north of Novato (see map). For service between Novato & Santa Rosa use increased SMART service.
  • Express service between San Rafael Transit Center & San Francisco increases to every 15 minutes during peak hours, and every 30 minutes all day, roughly doubling previous service levels.
  • Increased service between Novato & San Rafael. 3-4 more trips during morning and evening peak hours in both directions.
  • Late night service between Novato and Petaluma/Rohnert Park/Santa Rosa temporarily provided by new Sonoma County Transit Route 51 (through June 30 only).

Route 114

Map

  • Minor schedule adjustments.

Route 120

Map

  • Routes 130 & 150 REPLACED by new Route 120.
  • Route 120 provides service every 30-60 minutes between Strawberry Village and San Francisco.
  • Route 120 serves Seminary and Manzanita Park & Ride, then follows the Route 130 alignment from Marin City through Sausalito to San Francisco.
  • All trips timed to connect to/from Marin Transit Route 71 in Marin City.
Route 130
  • Replaced by Route 120 between Seminary Park & Ride and San Francisco. (See Route 120 map & timetable.

Route 132

Map

  • One southbound trip added, arriving at the SF Financial District at 9:50 am.
  • Second southbound trip begins at San Anselmo Hub.
  • Two northbound trips added, departing the SF Financial District at 2:20 pm and 6:20 pm.
Route 150
  • Replaced by Route 120 between Seminary Park & Ride and San Francisco.
  • Route 120 serves Sausalito and does not serve Spencer Bus Pad. (See Route 120 map & timetable.

Route 154

Map

  • Minor schedule adjustments.
Route 164
  • Replaced by extra service on Route 172.
  • East Petaluma no longer serviced by GGT; use Route 172 from Petaluma Fairgrounds Park and Ride. (See Route 172 map & timetable).

Route 172

Map

  • ​Commute bus service in Sonoma County is streamlined into a single alignment with additional trips; buses will run every 20-30 minutes during peak periods.
  • Southbound boarding location at the Santa Rosa Transit Mall moves across the street, to stop S1.
  • Southbound boarding location at the Copeland Street Transit Mall in Petaluma is on D Street, mid-block between Lakeville and Copeland streets.
  • Bus stops on E Washington St at Lakeville and at Grey St are no longer served.
Route 172X

Route 580

  • Trips are faster and more direct with express service from Bellam Blvd. to Pt. Richmond.
  • More trips added daily.
  • Use Marin Transit Route 23 for access to/from East San Rafael.

Route 580X

  • Three weekday morning westbound trips only.
  • See Route 580 for additional service.
Golden Gate Ferry
  • Larkspur: One weekday midday round-trip departs 30 minutes earlier.

  • Tiburon & Angel Island: Some 5-minute changes to weekday schedules.

  • Sausalito: No schedule changes.

Plan Your Travel

Effective April 12, 2026, some areas will see more significant changes than others. The below chart provides a high-level look into the best options for traveling on Golden Gate based on your area.

Golden Gate Transit buses take two different paths when traveling through San Francisco:

  • Civic Center path - used by Routes 101 and 120
  • Financial District path - used by Routes 114, 132, 154, and 172

Not every stop in Marin County or Sonoma County is served by both paths. If you need to switch between them, you can transfer easily at the Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza or at Richardson & Francisco.

Transfers are free, and buses on both paths run often-about every 10 minutes or better during busy travel times.

Connect with SMART

Fare Increase
Most Golden Gate Transit and Golden Gate Ferry fares will increase by $.25 on July 1, 2026. Check back for updated fare tables.
