WASHINGTON - U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Tina Smith (D-MN) announced that the U.S. Department of Education has unfrozen $1,556,791 in funding for St. Paul. This money will be distributed to fund 21st Century Learning Centers at St. Paul community programs, including the Hmong American Partnership, Keystone Community Services, and the Children's Defense Fund.
"We must continue to support our community programs so that our children can thrive," said Klobuchar. "I fought to restore this funding for St. Paul so families and students don't lose out on vital programs."
"This funding never should have been frozen in the first place. It's just another example of the administration's attempt to make reckless cuts to funding, which put the success of kids and families at risk," said Smith. "I'm glad we pushed to get the money flowing again, because kids in St. Paul and the educators who empower them shouldn't come at the expense of tax cuts for billionaires."
