Spine-Tingling Adventures for Fall in Ohio

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) - This one's for the boo-seekers who prefer their spooky season with a little less pumpkin spice and a lot more frights! TourismOhio is your go-to resource for the creepy, bump-in-the-night experiences just in time for Halloween.

"Part of the fun of this time of year is embracing the unexpected, and nothing says that quite like Haunted Ohio," said Sarah Wickham, state tourism director. "We're constantly expanding our spooky offerings on Ohio.org, as each year they're some of our most sought-after content. And, this year, we've even included it in the travel guide!"

Featured on the Fall in Ohio landing page, and supported by a downloadable map, Haunted Ohio showcases 25 of the state's most infamously haunted sites. Whether it's a ghost haunt at a beautiful historic hotel or crossing an ominous bridge, there are plenty of spirits lurking across the state, including a lighthouse-prowling cat.

Ohio's supernatural side isn't limited to ghosts. The state has long been home to sightings of legendary cryptids. Those interested in exploring the mysteries of Ohios creatures can start at Ohio.org. From Bigfoot to lake monsters, Ohio has seen its share of eerie encounters - including homegrown legends like the Loveland Frogman and Orange Eyes.

For even more otherworldly adventures, travelers can explore the "It's Eerie in Ohio" feature in the 2026 Ohio Travel Guide, available for free online and by request at Ohio.org. Written by Ohio-based travel writer Rich Warren, the feature highlights Ohio's supernatural creatures, quirky stops such as the Troll Hole in Alliance and Ohio Museum of Horror in Galion, and spooky places to stay along the way.
