Investment Will Strengthen Resilience of U.S. Ports, Transportation
WASHINGTON - Today, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced more than $180 million in grant awards to secure American ports and public transportation systems.
FEMA awarded this money through two preparedness grant programs: the Port Security Grant Program and the Transit Security Grant Program. These programs enable communities across the country to strengthen their security and resilience against emergencies like cybersecurity incidents and terrorist attacks. This funding aligns with President Donald J. Trump's America First Resilience Strategy, which calls for empowering communities and industries to ensure their own resilience and ability to sustain key services. These investments will save lives, generate prosperity and enable efficient disaster response and recovery.
"Nothing is more important to President Trump than the safety and security of the American people," said FEMA Administrator Cameron Hamilton. "These grant awards represent a significant investment in the critical infrastructure that communities across the country depend on every day. By strengthening the resilience of U.S. maritime ports and transportation systems, we ensure the free movement of people, goods and services. This protects the American economy and our way of life."
Grant awards announced today include:
