DALLAS - Eight students will take the stage at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 16, to compete as finalists at the annual MLK Jr. Oratory Competition, presented by Foley & Lardner LLP. Fourth and fifth-graders will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by delivering original speeches inspired by King's teachings. The event will take place at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre located at 2400 Flora Street. To confirm your attendance, please contact a member of the Media Relations team.
Oak Cliff community celebrates historic SOC legacy
South Oak Cliff High School celebrated its state championship victory with a community parade Saturday, honoring a team that is one of the most dominant in Texas high school football history. The celebration culminated with Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins proclaiming Jan. 10, as "Coach Jason Todd Day," recognizing Todd as the first Black head coach to win three UIL Texas high school football state championships and honoring the program's lasting impact on the South Oak Cliff community.
