Retired Air Force Major Indicted for Sexually Exploiting Several Children
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - A retired Air Force Major has been indicted on charges involving the production and possession of child sexual abuse material, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Catherine L. Crosby.
A five-count indictment filed in the U.S. District Court charges Daniel Martin Brown, 63, of Leeds, Alabama, with four counts of sexual exploitation of children and one count of possession of child pornography. The incidents allegedly occurred between January 2014 and December 2025 in Jefferson County, Alabama.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by U.S. Attorneys' Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet and to identify and rescue victims. The FBI Birmingham Division investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney R. Leann White is prosecuting the case.
