BURNABY - Drivers are advised to plan for traffic delays this weekend on Highway 1 in Burnaby, as lane closures and a full overnight closure of a section of the highway on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, will support work on the Burnaby Lake overpass.
A full overnight closure is necessary between the Sprott and Gaglardi exits on Saturday so City of Burnaby crews can safely lift the bridge deck over Highway 1. Lane closures will begin at noon on Saturday, moving to a full closure in both directions of the highway from Saturday at 8 p.m. until Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025, at 6 a.m.
Traffic will be detoured onto Lougheed Highway. Vehicles, including commercial traffic, must exit Highway 1 at the Willingdon, Sprott or Gaglardi exits.
Drivers should expect major delays on Highway 1, Lougheed Highway and nearby areas during this time, and use alternative routes or avoid travelling during the closure window.
The Ministry of Transportation and Transit will advise if any further closures or extensions are needed.
Travellers are reminded to obey signage. Traffic updates will be available at www.DriveBC.ca.
