Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) announced $33,746,000 from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for airports throughout Nevada, including $20,000,000 for the Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO). These grants, which Senator Cortez Masto helped deliver through the bipartisan infrastructure and the FAA reauthorization laws, will allow airports to make necessary infrastructure improvements and support Nevada's travel and tourism industry.
"From the Las Vegas Strip to the shores of Lake Tahoe, Nevada is a globally-renowned tourism destination," said Senator Cortez Masto. "Our airports are the first and last pieces of Nevada visitors see, and I am committed to ensuring their security and efficiency. This funding will help the Reno-Tahoe International Airport continue its critical terminal renovations and support safe air traffic in and out of Boulder City. I'll continue fighting to deliver the support that Nevada's airports - international and regional - need to best serve passengers."
Senator Cortez Masto helped secure the following four grants, totaling $32,150,000:
"The New Gen A&B concourse project, part of our MoreRNO infrastructure program, will reimagine the airport experience in our community with more space, modernized concessions, as well as more accessible and family friendly features. We are very grateful for these grant funds to support this important investment in our hometown airport and we thank our federal congressional delegation and the FAA for their steadfast support over the life of this grant program," said Cris Jensen, interim CEO, Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority.
"We are incredibly grateful to receive this $10 million grant, which is a major milestone for the Boulder City Municipal Airport and the future of aviation safety in our community. This funding will make a significant contribution toward the overall cost of the new Air Traffic Control Tower," said Marissa Adou, Airport Manager, Boulder City Airport.
Senator Cortez Masto has consistently fought to ensure Nevada's transportation infrastructure, including airports, has the funding it needs. Last year, in total, she secured over $68 million for Nevada's airports. Cortez Masto has also secured millions for improvements to Nevada's roads to increase safety and reduce congestion. These investments help support the Silver State's vital travel and hospitality economy while ensuring that Nevadans have the safe and efficient transportation network they require.
