The New York Times Communities Fund will soon launch its 115th Annual Campaign, supporting nonprofits focused on education in alignment with the Times Company's mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
To mark 175 years of The Times in 2026, the Fund is introducing the American Journalism Project (A.J.P.) as an eighth beneficiary partner for its 2026-27 campaign. A.J.P. builds and strengthens nonprofit local news organizations so more communities have access to trusted, independent news and information.
The Fund's portfolio also supports organizations advancing work-force development for underemployed Americans, early childhood education, high school persistence and success for low-income students in the U.S., and education for girls in Africa.
Partner nonprofits include the American Journalism Project, CAMFED, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York, Children's Aid, First Book, OneGoal, Per Scholas, and UJA-Federation of New York.
Founded in 1911 by publisher Adolph Ochs as The New York Times Neediest Cases Fund, the appeal has raised nearly $365 million over 114 years. Renamed in 2023, the Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit fully supported by the Times Company, which covers all administrative costs so 100 percent of donations directly assist those in need.
The Fund continues to collaborate with Focusing Philanthropy to drive high-impact giving at scale.
The New York Times Opinion section will publish coverage highlighting the Fund's partners and programs starting in late November.
