The City of West Hollywood announces the U.S. premiere of Discofoot, choreographed by Petter Jacobsson and Thomas Caley. This high-energy fully improvised performance unleashes 22 local dancers who battle it out on the field - never running, only dancing - in a glitter-powered mashup of soccer and dance. Four 45-minute performances will take place within the WeHo Fan Zone at West Hollywood Park, which is located at 647 N. San Vicente Boulevard, on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 5:30 p.m.; Friday, June 26, 2026 at 7 p.m.; and two performances on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in celebration of the 2026 FIFA World CupTM. Admission is free and all ages are welcome.
At West Hollywood Park, the WeHo Fan Zone will include a beer garden, a family and kids area with a mini soccer pitch, and a dedicated space in the center of the activation for the Discofoot U.S. premiere. More information and details about the WeHo Fan Zones at West Hollywood Park and Plummer Park will be announced online at https://go.weho.org/fanzones as they become available.
Blending the intensity of a soccer match with the artistry of dance, Discofoot challenges traditional notions of sport and performance while emphasizing inclusivity, improvisation, and creative expression. Audiences are invited to cheer, laugh, and groove along as West Hollywood reimagines the game. The performance is a key component of the City's three-year creative arts plan tied to major sporting events in the region.
Thomas Caley and Petter Jacobsson's long-standing creative partnership unites a contemporary vision with an internationally acclaimed classical foundation. Jacobsson, a Stockholm-born dancer trained at the Royal Swedish Ballet School, the American Ballet School, and the Vaganova Academy, rose to prominence as a principal with Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet before expanding his artistic scope in New York through collaborations with Twyla Tharp and the Merce Cunningham community. Caley, originally from Michigan, developed his distinct artistic voice through Interlochen Arts Academy, SUNY Purchase, and his defining years with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. Together, the pair has shaped innovative works in New York and Stockholm, modernized the Royal Swedish Ballet through bold programming - including the landmark In Nooks and Crannies project - and earned recognition for their award-winning staging of Chess. Their influential collaboration continued at the CCN-Ballet de Lorraine, where Jacobsson served as director from 2011 to 2025 and, alongside Caley, helped lead the company to national acclaim as France's best dance company in 2021.
The City of West Hollywood's Fan Zones will transform the City's local parks into dynamic gathering spaces where residents and visitors can watch matches and enjoy community programming. Free and open to the public, the WeHo Fan Zones will feature activities aligned with major World Cup matches - including screenings of the U.S. Men's National Team games - on large LED screens, along with food vendors and curated entertainment. Additional offerings include family-friendly activities, interactive games, and communal outdoor viewing areas.
The 2026 FIFA World CupTM runs from Thursday, June 11, 2026 through Saturday, July 19, 2026 across North America, with Los Angeles serving as a key host region. WeHo Fan Zones aim to complement regional festivities while providing free, accessible, inclusive spaces for the community to celebrate the global event in the heart of the City.
WeHo Fan Zones will take place at two locations:
