What to Watch for at the Milwaukee Mile

  • Happy Honda Days: Honda and Alex Palou wrapped up the manufacturers' and drivers' championship titles last time out at Portland International Raceway-clinching with two races still to run in the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season. It's been a banner year for both Honda and Palou, with Honda scoring 12 victories in 15 races, eight of those being won by the eventual champion-including the 2025 Indianapolis 500. Three Honda-powered drivers have found victory lane this year, Palou, Scott Dixon and Kyle Kirkwood, and all five Honda-powered teams have notched either a podium finish or a pole position in 2025.
  • Battle of the young guns: With the manufacturers' and drivers' championships wrapped up, there is still one title on the line-Rookie of the Year. Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing's Louis Foster leads by a mere six points in the title chase. Foster's rookie campaign has been highlighted by a pole position at Road America. Foster has made the Firestone Fast Six round of qualifying three times this year, and has scored a best finish of 11th at both the Sonsio Grand Prix on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, and at Road America.
  • Say cheese: The Milwaukee Mile is the oldest continually operating racing facility in the world, and has hosted at least one race every year from 1903 to 2024 (except during U.S. involvement in World War II). Jimmy Vasser scored the first of nine Honda-powered victories at The Mile in 1998. Other Honda-powered race winners at Milwaukee include Paul Tracy (1999, 2002), Dario Franchitti (2004, 2010), Tony Kanaan (2006, 2007), Ryan Briscoe (2008) and Scott Dixon in 2009. Honda is looking for their first win at the facility, following its return to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES schedule last year.
