Security cooperation between Warsaw and Kyiv and Ukraine's path to EU membership topped the agenda of today's Warsaw meeting of Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski with Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha. Minister Sybiha accompanied Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on his official visit to Poland.

The two foreign ministers highlighted the strategic significance of Poland-Ukraine partnership. They noted Poland's substantial contribution to helping Ukraine in its pursuit of stability amid the harsh reality of the war. Also, the top diplomats discussed progress in peace negotiations and Poland's role in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

We are united in fighting for a safe future

- Deputy Prime Minister Sikorski said after the meeting.

The two heads of diplomacy spoke about Ukraine's European integration. Warsaw has been supporting Kyiv in its implementation of the reforms required from Ukraine prior to its full membership of the European Union. During its Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2025, Poland was actively working towards stepping up the pace of Ukraine's accession talks. In early December, Poland announced its joining of Ukraine2EU, the EU's integration support programme. It will provide advisory support to Ukrainian public administration institutions in their efforts to conduct EU-related reforms and align legislation with EU law.

Radosław Sikorski and Andrii Sybiha also talked about deepening Poland-Ukraine security cooperation. Poland and Ukraine will be exchanging experience and coordinating further measures in that regard so as to effectively enhance Ukraine's resilience and regional security.
