New Knight to Know: Jasmine Baylor ’28

Hometown: Philadelphia, Pa.

Majors: English and Secondary Education

Are there any extracurriculars you plan on joining or are already a part of?

I am involved in the Social Action and Justice Education Fellowship, the Catto Teacher Scholars program, and the College2Career Scholars program. I would also like to wrestle, play badminton, join the BSA, and get involved in so many more activities! I am also a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

What are some of your hobbies and interests?

I love wrestling, playing badminton, writing and performing poetry, dancing, singing, and painting.

What is your proudest accomplishment to date?

Being a first-generation graduate with honors and receiving two full-ride scholarships.

What is a challenge you've had to overcome to get to this point?

A challenge I had to overcome was coming from a toxic and abusive household where I had no support, then graduating with honors from Community College of Philadelphia and earning a full ride to Arcadia.

What made you choose Arcadia?

My success coach from Community College of Philadelphia recommended that I apply. I learned about the SAJE program, applied, got accepted, and from that moment on, I knew Arcadia was for me.

What are you most looking forward to at Arcadia?

I'm looking forward to experiencing my life freely as a young adult. I look forward to growing, learning, meeting new people, making new friends, and just experiencing life itself. I am excited for all of it!
