Your four years at Siena will go by faster than you think. Between classes, friendships, traditions, and new experiences, there are countless moments that make being a Siena Saint unforgettable. While everyone's journey looks a little different, there are some experiences that truly capture the spirit of Siena.
Adopt this bucket list to ensure you make the most out of your four years as a Siena Saint!
Take the Saints Bus to downtown Albany to watch the men's basketball team play at MVP Arena. Cheer them on from the dog pound student section, buy some concessions, and don't forget to wear your green and gold!
Whether it is at a sporting event, campus celebration, or during his daily walks, meeting Baloo is a very necessary part of being a Saint. Give him some love, take a picture with him, and you will have a new best friend.
Right before finals week, enjoy as Siena turns into an on-campus festival. Dance and sing your heart out at the Sienafest concert and then have fun participating in activities in the quad, like bull riding and axe throwing. Get all of your energy out so you can ace your exams.
One of the best parts of Siena's small class sizes is the opportunity to work closely with professors outside the classroom. Ask a faculty member about joining a research project, completing an independent study, or helping with a lab or field project. You will gain hands-on experience, build a mentor relationship, and maybe even present your work at a conference or publish it.
A few times a year, Siena hosts bingo for all students with amazing prices. Bring your friends, grab a table, and hope you grabbed a lucky bingo card. There are so many great prizes to win such as Airpods, Siena swag baskets, and TVs.
When the weather is nice, the quad becomes the heart of campus. Bring your blanket and laptop to study in the sun, or bring your competitive spirit and join a game of spikeball, frisbee, or catch with friends. Whether you are getting work done or taking a break between classes, the quad is one of the best places to spend time at Siena.
Before finals week begins, stop by one of Siena's most unique traditions: the Blessing of the Brains. Students gather for a late-night study break with bacon, bananas, and bagels before receiving a blessing from the Friars for wisdom and focus during exams. It is a lighthearted and meaningful way to take a breath, connect with friends, and head into finals week feeling supported.
These are just a few of the many traditions and moments that make the Siena experience so special. Some memories will come from big campus events, while others will come from simple moments with friends between classes or late-night conversations in the residence halls.
Over the next four years, you will discover your own favorite traditions, places on campus, and experiences that define your Siena story. Take the time to try new things, say yes to opportunities, and make the most of every moment. Before you know it, you will be looking back on these experiences with pride, knowing you truly made the most of your time as a Siena Saint!
