Kansas City Advances Next Phase of CPKC Stadium and Berkley Riverfront Growth

KANSAS CITY, Mo.
- Mayor Quinton Lucas and City Council today approved an ordinance supporting a major expansion of CPKC Stadium, home of the Kansas City Current, and continued investment in development along the Missouri River, a $1.4 billion project that would further establish Kansas City's riverfront as a premier destination for sports, entertainment, and economic growth.

"Not long ago, this stretch of riverfront was a landfill. Today it's home to CPKC Stadium, new park space, and thousands of new residents," said Mayor Quinton Lucas. "We're continuing to build a premier sports, entertainment, and housing district in the Midwest, on Kansas City's riverfront."

The Current's proposed plans include an expansion of CPKC Stadium along with expanded public spaces and new trail connections along the Missouri River, retail and commercial development, and additional parking.

Generating thousands of construction jobs, attracting new residents and commercial users, and creating space for more events, the next phase of development will enhance the fan experience while creating new opportunities for Kansas Citians to enjoy one of the city's fastest-growing destinations.

Following today's approval, City leaders and project partners will continue working through details as planning moves forward.
