Local Students Complete Summer Internships in Congressman Comer’s Tompkinsville Office

WASHINGTON-Today, Congressman James Comer (R-Ky.) recognized local students Mollie Kate Webb and Ella Smith for recently completing summer internships in his Tompkinsville office. While serving Kentucky's 1st Congressional District, Mollie Kate and Ella assisted staff with constituent casework, responding to constituent inquiries, and providing general office assistance.

"Mollie Kate and Ella were a tremendous asset to my Tompkinsville office this summer, and I appreciate their assistance to my staff and constituents across Central Kentucky. I look forward to following along with their future endeavors and accomplishments," Congressman Comer said.

Mollie Kate Webb, a Glasgow native, is pursuing her undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University in Agricultural Leadership with a minor in Campaigns and Lobbying.

"I thoroughly enjoyed working for Congressman Comer in the Tompkinsville office this summer. Getting to see the effort and intentionality that went into serving each and every constituent, knowing that there are individuals who represent constituents with such passion and pose is something that I admire greatly and hope to implement those qualities into every role I fill," said Ms. Webb.

Ella Smith, an Albany native, is pursuing her undergraduate degree from the University of the Cumberlands studying Economics.

"This internship taught me a lot about what our federal government does for constituents on a day-to-day basis. It also showed me what a future career in government might look like for me," said Ms. Smith.

In Congressman Comer's District offices, interns may be asked to do a variety of things, including day-to-day office work such as answering phones, writing letters and assisting with media clips. In addition, interns may be assigned to assist in various constituent case work or work on District-based projects of importance.
