Annual Regional Stormwater Summit Set for Oct. 10 at Lawrence Technological University

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct. 7, 2025-An annual Southeast Michigan gathering of government, industry, and community stakeholders intended to share information, trends, new rules, and collaborative efforts around stormwater management is set for Friday, Oct. 10, at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield. The Regional Stormwater Summit is sponsored by the Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner's office, Lawrence Technological University and Pure Oakland Water.
"The Regional Stormwater Summit each year brings together government officials, industry innovators, and community stakeholders to look at various aspects of stormwater management," said Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash. "This is a marquee event for our profession in Michigan, and I encourage anyone interested to register and attend."
The daylong event begins with a legislative update from Sara Rubino, Oakland County Water Resources Government Policy Attorney followed by several different presentations including a morning keynote presentation by Matt Scharver, Director of Watershed Programs for the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District. Following the keynote, there will be presentations by:

  • Pat Lindemann, Ingham County Drain Commissioner, and Paul Pratt, Deputy Ingham County Drain Commissioner, on the Montgomery Drain
  • Greg Kacvinsky, OHM Advisors Chief Administrative Officer, and Liz Whiddon, OHM Advisors Project Engineer, on Remapping a Floodplain in Downtown Ann Arbor: Regulatory and Technical Hurdles
  • Steve Chadwick, Michigan Department of Natural Resources Senior Great Lakes Wetland Advisor; Randall Knapik, PhD, Michigan Department of Natural Resources Wetland Habitat Specialist; and, Taylor Warstler, Oakland County Water Resources Civil Engineer III, on Conservation through Collaboration: Restoring Riparian Function in an Urban Environment
  • A panel discussion on regional flooding initiatives featuring Kelly Karll, SEMCOG Manager of Environment and Infrastructure; Todd King, Great Lakes Water Authority Chief Resiliency Officer; Brian Korzetz, US Army Corps of Engineers Detroit District Outreach
  • Coordinator; Lisa Wallick, Detroit Water and Sewerage Department Field Services Director, Permitting and Stormwater; and, Curt Wolf, University of Michigan Managing Director of the Urban Collaboratory
  • Eric Diesing, Oakland County Parks Freshwater Program Coordinator on the Greening of Oakland County Parks
