BURNET- Media is invited to help Inks Lake State Park celebrate its 75th birthday with a fun-filled day of family-friendly activities.

This hill country gem an hour northwest of Austin is home to rolling hills, shady forests as well as its namesake, Inks Lake. The park also just opened a brand-new headquarters building, which will give visitors a world-class introduction to the park as soon as they arrive.

The birthday event will include, but are not limited to:

  • Archery and Atlatl: Archery instructors will guide this fun activity taking aim at various targets. Adaptive archery equipment is available.
  • A local game warden, and the Operation Game Thief trailer, will be on site to answer hunting and fishing questions.
  • Historic Campsites: Learn what camping looked like through the decades and the timeless tradition it is.
  • Campsite Decorating Contest with prizes.
  • Historical programs and artifacts to enjoy
  • Selfie Scavenger Hunt
  • Blood Drive

Date: Oct. 18

Time: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Where: Central Park, Inks Lake State Park

Cost: Free with park admission, and park admission is free with a Texas State Parks Pass. On busy weekends, reserve your day use pass early online! Please note: You do not need to register or make a reservation for this event, just be sure you have a day pass purchased for everyone attending.
