Tucson, AZ - Congressman Juan Ciscomani focused on serving veterans and listening to community concerns last week during a busy district work week that included constituent events in Marana, Oro Valley, and Sierra Vista.
The Congressman also participated in a briefing with leadership at Fort Huachuca, where he was given an update in the new mission he secured for the Cochise County Army post.
"It was an honor to spend last week meeting directly with the veterans, families, small business owners, and community leaders who make Southern Arizona so strong. With nearly 80,000 veterans calling AZ-06 home, supporting those who served our nation is not just a priority for me - it's a responsibility," said Congressman Ciscomani. "From productive discussions with Secretary Collins, visits to local veteran facilities, and time spent at Fort Huachuca, to speaking at the National Day of Prayer event in Oro Valley and connecting with small businesses at Marana Mornings, every conversation was focused on delivering results for Arizona. District work periods are critical because they allow me to hear directly from the people I represent, better understand the challenges facing our communities, and take those priorities back to Washington to continue fighting for Southern Arizona."
Congressman Ciscomani welcomed VA Secretary Doug Collins to Arizona's 6th Congressional District last Monday for a tour of the Northwest VA Clinic and a roundtable discussion with local veterans and organizations that provide services to veterans. You can read more on the discussion with Secretary Collins HERE.
The Congressman also spent time in Cochise County touring the Sierra Vista Vet Center Outstation and the Warrior Healing Center. Congressman Ciscomani worked closely with the VA to reopen this new Vet Center Outstation in the Sierra Vista community, which provides mental health care and critical resources at no cost to the veteran. Touring the facility gave the Congressman the ability to see firsthand the work this center is doing to support local veterans and connect with those who give their time to serve Sierra Vista's veteran population.
Additionally, Congressman Ciscomani toured the Warrior Healing Center, which seeks to eliminate veteran suicide in Cochise County through community and peer support.
From his first day in office, the Congressman has fought for legislative wins for veterans. He has led several veteran-focused bills, four of which have passed the House in the 119th Congress alone. The most recent of these is the VETS Opportunity Act of 2025, which modernizes the GI Bill to expand veteran access to educational opportunities. Congressman Ciscomani also recently introduced the VA Home Loan Affordability Act, which removes barriers within the Veterans Administration home loan process to make it easier for veterans to own a home.
In addition to a focus on veterans, the Congressman participated in several community events. This included Marana Mornings, during which Congressman Ciscomani connected with local business and community leaders as part of National Small Business Week to give an update on the work he is doing for Marana in Congress, including the passage of the Mayor Ed Honea Memorial Post Office Bill.
The Congressman has been a strong advocate for small businesses throughout his time in office. Last year, he voted in support of the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, legislation that has a direct impact in supporting Arizona's small businesses. Under the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, small businesses are benefiting from lower taxes, expanded investment incentives, and support for workforce stability. Congressman Ciscomani recently met with a group of small business leaders to discuss these impacts. The Congressman remains committed to bringing forth legislation that further supports small businesses, in order to strengthen the workforce and economy in southeastern Arizona.
Congressman Ciscomani also took part in this year's National Day of Prayer Breakfast at Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene. He had the opportunity to speak on the importance of faith and the power of prayer, as well as connect with church members and leaders.
Congressman Ciscomani remains committed to advancing policies that support Arizona's veterans, strengthen small businesses, and deliver meaningful results for communities across Southeastern Arizona. The Congressman will continue working to ensure the priorities and concerns he heard throughout this district work period are represented in Washington, particularly as Congress considers legislation impacting veterans' services, economic growth, and community investment.
