Defence Minister Miruță's meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, at the MoND Headquarters

On Monday, March 30, Minister of National Defence, Radu Miruță, had a meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Bucharest, HE Willemijn van Haaften.

The talks highlighted the high level of bilateral defence relations, and also addressed the security challenges posed at regional and European levels, as well as the evolution of joint projects in the field of defence industry.

During the meeting, the officials emphasized the importance of maintaining a consolidated allied position on NATO's Eastern Flank, as well as the need to continue joint efforts to support Ukraine. European F-16 Training Center plays an essential role in this regard, being considered a pillar of the Romanian-Dutch cooperation. At the same time, the minister thanked for the significant contribution of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the NATO Battle Group Romania from Cincu.

The two officials emphasized the importance of the upcoming North Atlantic Alliance Summit - which will take place this July, in Ankara - both from the perspective of reconfirming allied solidarity and maintaining the Black Sea's status as a space of strategic importance for regional security.

The Romanian minister appreciated the contribution of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to strengthening European security through the substantial support provided to Ukraine, reiterating Romania's openness to developing joint projects for the defence industry within the framework of European Union initiatives.

The meeting reconfirmed both parties' commitment to promote a more coherent European defence and develop a capable defence industry, in full complementarity with the objectives undertaken within NATO.
