TidalHealth Peninsula Regional is pleased to announce that Brionna King, respiratory therapist, is its Tree of Life Award recipient for August 2026.
This award honors respiratory therapists who provide exceptional care to patients, establish meaningful connections and collaborate with the care team to ensure the best possible outcomes for their patients.
King was nominated for her calm and confident response during a critical respiratory emergency at TidalHealth McCready Pavilion, her nominator said:
"The freestanding ER at McCready has its daily challenges. With fewer staff members and limited resources, teamwork is important, especially when a sick patient comes in.
Bri was working at TidalHealth McCready when a Priority 1 respiratory (juvenile), was brought in by EMS. The patient was being bagged on arrival and Bri was set up and the patient was intubated in 10 minutes. The patient was difficult to ventilate and her vent settings were a challenge.
Bri remained calm and communicated clearly with myself and Dr. Massey the entire time the patient was at McCready. She let me know changes in the ventilator and outcomes of the changes in real time. She remained present in the room and clearly cared about the patient's outcome.
She made a stressful situation less so due to her calm, confident and capable presence. The family thanked me repeatedly and said how they knew their loved one was in good hands.
Bri is an absolute asset to the TidalHealth respiratory team and deserves to be recognized."
TidalHealth appreciates King and all of the respiratory therapists who provide exceptional care to patients throughout the health system.
