Road Closures and Security Updates Announced for Game On Worcester

WORCESTER, Mass. - The City of Worcester announced Wednesday updates related to traffic, parking, and security measures for the four "Game on Worcester" events that will broadcast FIFA World CupTM games on the Worcester Common.

The following streets will be closed one to two hours before event start time:

• Franklin Street (From Main Street to Salem Street)
• Front Street (From Main Street to Mercantile Street)
• Commercial Street (From Front Street to Mechanic Street)
• Portland Street (Federal Street to Franklin Street)
• Church Street
• Mechanic Street
• Norwich Street

Closures will begin at 3 p.m. this Saturday, June 13, and subsequent closure times will be announced prior to each event. Roads are expected to reopen 30-45 minutes following the conclusion of each event. Motorists are asked to plan accordingly.

Visitors who plan to drive to the events are encouraged to use the following nearby parking garages:

• Federal Plaza Garage - 570 Main St.
• Pearl Elm Garage - 20 Pearl St.
• Mercantile Center Garage - 201 Commercial St.
• Worcester Common Garage - 3 Eaton Pl.
• McGrath/Worcester Public Library - 40 Salem St.

Roadblocks and recommended parking garages are labeled on the attached map.

Attendees should also be aware that bags may be subject to search, and alcohol must be purchased on site and be consumed within the designated area. They are also asked to take any necessary precautions in case of high temperatures or humidity.
