Alley and sidewalk closure on South Ninth Street, March 17-19

(COLUMBIA, MO)- Beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, the alley between South Ninth and South Tenth streets, located between Cherry and Locust streets, will temporarily close. The closure will allow crews to repair drainage infrastructure to help prevent water from collecting and freezing on the adjacent sidewalk.

During the closure:

  • The alley will be closed to all traffic.
  • The sidewalk in front of the alley entrance on South Ninth Street will be closed.
  • "Sidewalk closed, cross here" signs will be posted on Cherry and Locust streets to guide pedestrians safely around the area.
  • Two parking meters near the alley entrance will be reserved for work vehicles daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Work is expected to be completed and the alley and sidewalk reopened by 7 p.m. Thursday, March 19, weather permitting.
