U.S. Sanctions Fuel Theft Operators Benefiting Foreign Terrorist Mexican Cartel

Press Statement

Thomas "Tommy" Pigott, Spokesperson

June 30, 2026

Today, the United States is sanctioning two Mexican nationals and nine entities involved in fuel theft who are linked to Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG), a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization under the Trump Administration.

Treasury's action highlights CJNG's exploitation of Mexico's petroleum and petrochemicals sector, which presents a threat to legitimate U.S. businesses and the U.S. financial system. This action illustrates this Administration's commitment to dismantling these terrorist organizations and Making America Safe Again.

Today's action is being taken pursuant to the counterterrorism authority, Executive Order (E.O.) 13224, as amended, and E.O. 14059, which targets the international proliferation of illicit drugs and their means of production. More information on today's sanctions can be found in Treasury's press release.
