Foreign Secretary Juan Ramón de la Fuente today called on representatives from all 32 states to work in a more coordinated and efficient manner on the various efforts underway at the local, state, and regional levels to connect with the international agenda.
He emphasized the importance of strengthening efforts in the coming months to establish a framework that enables effective linkage between local affairs and the international context, on issues such as trade, culture, sports, politics, diplomacy, science and technology, and innovation, among others.
"The agenda can be as broad as we want to design it, but it has to move beyond being a mere narrative to become a policy that actually works and delivers results," Foreign Secretary De la Fuente stated while presiding over the general assembly of the Mexican Association of State International Affairs Offices (AMAIE).
He emphasized that they are seeking results for communities, for the states, and for the country, given the significant and complex opportunities and challenges ahead.
Foreign Secretary De la Fuente stressed that to continue upholding Mexico's name, better coordination is necessary to help implement the various plans and programs that each state has, and in this way achieve the needed results.
During the general assembly, the National Presidency and Technical Secretariat presented their results for the 2024-2025 period, and elections were held for the new National Coordination for the 2026-2027 period, which will be led by the states of Nuevo León, Aguascalientes, and Campeche.
More than 60 activities promoted by the governments of Querétaro, Nuevo León, and Campeche were highlighted, aimed at promoting decentralized cooperation, strategic linkage between the states, and the professionalization of state international affairs offices.
The meeting was attended by the heads of the International Affairs Offices from all 32 states, members of AMAIE's Advisory Council, as well as special guests.
