Defence Secretary Attends 81st National Day Reception of Vietnam

Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) attended the 81st National Day reception of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, held at the Hilton Colombo on 24 August 2026.

The event was hosted by Her Excellency Mrs. Trinh Thi Tam, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Sri Lanka. Minister of Justice and National Integration, Hon. Harshana Nanayakkara, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The reception was attended by Cabinet Ministers, the Governor of the Western Province, the Deputy Speaker, Deputy Ministers, the Commanders of the Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Navy, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and senior officials of the diplomatic corps.
