Wildfire reported on West Rim of Zion National Park

SPRINGDALE, UT - Wildland firefighters have been deployed to an approximately 25-acre fire in the West Rim area of Zion National Park. The fire was reported to park staff at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. The cause of the fire has been determined to be a lightning strike.

Firefighters from the National Park Service and partners are actively addressing the flames. Currently, 25 wildland firefighters and one type 3 helicopter, conducting water drops, have been deployed.

In response to the fire, Lava Point Road and West Rim trail have been temporarily closed. The West Rim trail is currently closed between Scout Lookout and Lava Point.
