Argentina's oilseed sector enters MY2026/27 with a positive outlook, supported by strong prices, favorable producer margins, and expectations for abundant rainfall under a developing El Niño pattern. Post raises soybean production to 52.5 MMT, four percent above the strong MY2025/26 crop, while crush is forecast at 44.8 MMT, the second-highest level on record. Sunflower continues as the fastest-growing segment of Argentina's oilseed industry, with production forecast at a record 7.4 MMT and crush at 6.0 MMT as high international oil prices and new processing investments support expansion. Peanut production is forecast to rebound to 1.56 MMT following a difficult MY2025/26 harvest due to excessive moisture. Across the sector, strong demand for vegetable oils and expanding crush capacity are creating new opportunities, although high input costs, excessive rainfall risk, and increasing competition from other global oilseed producers remain key uncertainties.
