WASHINGTON, D.C. - Tomorrow, Wednesday, May 20, Senate Aging Committee Chairman Rick Scott and Ranking Member Kirsten Gillibrand will hold a hearing entitled "Preventing Falls, Preserving Independence: Technology, Community Programs, and Innovation in Senior Safety," to examine the growing threat of falls among older Americans and evaluate how technology, community-based programs, and federal initiatives are improving prevention, early detection, and recovery.
The hearing will highlight the proven impact of Area Agencies on Aging, Administration for Community Living-supported community programs, and private-sector innovation. It will also identify targeted policies that a reauthorized Older Americans Act should address to reduce injuries, lower Medicare costs, and help seniors remain safely at home during retirement.
