State Auditor Lydia York Recognized by National Foundation for Women Legislators

The Award recognizes trailblazing elected women for leadership in their communities

Dover, DE - The National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL) announced that Delaware Auditor of Accounts Lydia E. York has been named a 2026 Elected Women of Excellence Award recipient. The Award recognizes state and local elected women who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in their communities.

NFWL, the oldest organization for elected women in the United States, provides resources, information and networking opportunities to Federal, State, and local elected women across the country. Trailblazers recognized by the Elected Women of Excellence Award have worked tirelessly-often overcoming significant barriers-to serve and lead, helping to pave the way for more women to pursue public office and advocate for the issues they care about most.

"My journey through accounting, finance, and working on behalf of our community as an estates and trusts attorney is what led me to this incredible opportunity to serve all Delawareans as Auditor of Accounts," said Auditor York. "I am grateful for the opportunity to use my experience to help make our State government more transparent and accountable for all Delawareans. Delaware Auditor of Accounts Lydia E. York is a public servant with decades of experience in accounting, finance, and the legal profession. In 2022, she became the first African American woman elected to executive office in Delaware history.
