Athens, GA. (January 14, 2026) - Landmark Properties, a fully-integrated real estate firm specializing in development, construction, investment management, and operation of high-quality residential communities, has acquired a 22.35 acre site at 1401 Shop Road in Columbia, SC, for the development of The Walk on Shop Road, an 825-bed, 196-unit townhome-style student housing project less than a mile from the University of South Carolina.

Landmark will develop the project in partnership with Silverpeak Real Estate Partners. The in-house general contractor for Landmark Properties, Landmark Construction, will build the project, with Niles Bolton Associates serving as architect. Construction will begin imminently and is expected to be completed in time for the 2027-2028 academic year.
