The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union Robocon 2025 concluded successfully in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on 24 August 2025. Organised annually by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union for over two decades, this competition continues to champion STEM education and foster collaboration across the region. This year's tournament brought together 14 exceptional teams representing 13 countries and one region, including Cambodia, Egypt, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Hosted by Mongolian National Broadcaster with support from the ABU and local partners, the competition captivated audiences with its innovative format which featured dual-robot teams alternating between offensive and defensive roles every 20 seconds. The event drew attendance from President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh of Mongolia, who joined an enthusiastic crowd. The robots showed impressive skills with accurate shooting, quick movements, and strong defensive plays, demonstrating the excellent technical abilities of young engineers from across the Asia-Pacific region.
The competition reached an exciting climax in a thrilling final between the University of Tokyo team from Japan and Hong Kong. The match provided tremendous drama that captured the true spirit of the contest. Although the Japanese team was behind for most of the match, they made a remarkable comeback and won with a last-minute dunk shot that delighted the crowd.
The contest was broadcast live by Mongolian National Broadcaster and is scheduled to be aired by other ABU member broadcasters, further promoting the Union's commitment to youth development and regional exchange through technology and media.
