One Year Later: Parkview Logansport Hospital delivers on promise to protect local care

Since becoming Parkview Logansport Hospital in July 2025, the 83-bed, full-service hospital has continued to provide access to high-quality rural care

LOGANSPORT, Ind. - July 22, 2026 - One year after joining Parkview Health, Parkview Logansport Hospital is reporting significant gains in patient access, clinical quality, safety and workforce development. Backed by more than $15 million in investments from the leading provider of access to rural care, the hospital has strengthened healthcare services across Cass County and the surrounding area.

Parkview Logansport Hospital is an 83-bed, full-service hospital, continuing the facility's century-long history of serving the Cass County region. Cass County's population is approximately 38,000. About 750 co-workers, physicians and advanced practice providers joined Parkview during the transition.

"Healthcare is usually concentrated in metropolitan areas, and patients who can't make the drive to those cities are often the ones who need it most. By partnering with Parkview, we're able to make Parkview Logansport Hospital a place where you can access the medical care you need," said Tara McVay, president of Parkview Logansport Hospital. "The safety and technology improvements we've made this past year are just the beginning of our long-term plan to elevate regional care."

From July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026,Parkview Logansport demonstrated a significant impact across the region, with:

• 1,069 inpatient discharges (excluding newborns)
• 84,727 outpatients served
• 519 babies delivered
• 118,529 clinic encounters
• 18,845 emergency room visits

Within this first year, the hospital also improved its quality metrics, with more improvement expected as the impact of the investments continues. In May 2026, the hospital earned a 4-star rating in the HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems). Parkview is committed to continuous safety improvements through additional upgrades and the implementation of the Epic electronic health record system.

With the support of Parkview Health, the hospital has also taken steps to relieve financial pressure and stabilize finances. Cass County has been reimbursed for its $3 million loan to the former Logansport Memorial Hospital, appropriated in 2024, and all outstanding Hospital Assessment Fees have been paid to the State of Indiana.

Also during year one, more than $15 million in capital investments were injected into the hospital to quickly drive advancements in quality and technology, such as a new phone system and clinical workstations. Additional upgrades and improvements include:

• Diagnostic and surgical enhancements: The addition of a new $2.5 million spinal table for the operating room, in conjunction with advanced laparoscopes and arthroscopes in the amount of $814,000.
• Safety frameworks: Improved structure, function and reporting of the safety and quality departments to earn "Achieved Standard" for National Quality Forum (NQF) Safe Practice #1 for Culture of Safety Leadership Structures and Systems. Enhanced hospital-wide accountability, awareness and action to earn "Achieved Standard" for NQF Safe Practice #2 for Culture Measurement, Feedback and Intervention.
• Commitment to excellence: During the first quarter of the partnership, 592 co-workers completed a Service Excellence workshop to strengthen the hospital's culture of excellence.
• Workforce development: Co-workers have completed 74 hours of professional development, alongside 300 hours of initial leader education upon hire.

Parkview operates 10 rural community hospitals, from Logansport to LaGrange in Indiana over to Bryan, Ohio, maintaining more than 370 total inpatient beds in places where access is otherwise eroding. It is the largest rural healthcare provider in Indiana based on number of rural hospitals and population served. Through continued investments in technology, physicians and clinical services, the health system is transforming rural hospitals into destinations for high-quality care, reducing the need for patients to travel outside their communities.
