You're Invited to the Executive Forum: High-Trust, High-Impact Leadership: Strategies that Work Under Any Pressure with Kristina Turner, deputy state auditor, Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts

College of Business & Technology Wednesday September 24, 2025

We're excited to welcome back double Bobcat alumna Kristina Turner, Georgia's first female deputy state auditor, to the fall Executive Forum. The Executive Forum includes a networking hour with beer and wine, dinner and an inspiring talk from Turner.

With more than 25 years at the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts, Turner has led initiatives in technology integration, data analytics and research development -while fostering a culture that values people, public service and innovation.

A glimpse from our interview with Kristina Turner:

  • On her career path: "I grew up in a family of public servants, so I naturally gravitated toward government work. For me, auditing wasn't just about numbers - it was about making a meaningful impact through fiscal accountability."
  • On Georgia College & State University: "My professors knew me personally and invested in my success. Working as an accounting lab assistant built my confidence and showed me I could lead."
  • On blending accounting with technology: "I never expected to be at the center of change, but leading our department's data analytics work and then guiding five teams through COVID was transformative. We had no playbook - we just figured it out together."
  • On leadership: "Being the first woman in this role was a milestone, but what defined my career was leading during the pandemic. Watching our team adapt and thrive showed me the real power of leadership."
  • On the future of auditing: "AI will handle routine tasks, but it can't replace human judgment or ethics. Auditors need to be both truth tellers and storytellers."

Don't miss the chance to hear more of her story at the Executive Forum! Register today. Students will also have an opportunity to hear from Turner during her campus-wide presentation Thursday, Oct. 9, at 5 p.m. in A&S Auditorium.
