ABA Donates $25,000 to Support Washington State Wildfire Relief Efforts
WASHINGTON - The American Bankers Association today announced a $25,000 donation to the American Red Cross Washington Wildfires Response Fund to support Washington communities affected by the devastating wildfires that have displaced tens of thousands of residents and destroyed hundreds of homes and businesses across the state. ABA's donation follows a similar contribution made by the Washington Bankers Association to support relief and recovery efforts.
"As a Washington native, this disaster hits especially close to home," said Rob Nichols, ABA president and CEO. "Communities across the state are facing extraordinary challenges as they respond to the devastation caused by these wildfires. As Washington bankers work to support their customers, employees and neighbors, ABA is proud to stand with them and contribute to the relief efforts underway. We encourage banks and others across the country to join us in supporting the individuals, families and businesses working to recover and rebuild."
Wildfires across eastern Washington, including the Spokane-area fires, have forced the evacuation of tens of thousands of residents and damaged or destroyed hundreds of structures. The American Red Cross has established shelters and is providing critical assistance, including meals, comfort kits and other emergency services for those displaced by the fires.

"Washington's bankers have been stepping up to help their communities since these fires began, and this contribution will help ensure resources reach individuals and families facing tremendous loss and hardship."
