Strong lands new post office for 35763 zip code

WASHINGTON- Congressman Dale W. Strong announced today that the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is moving forward on plans to construct a new post office for the 35763-zip code.

"I am pleased that USPS is moving forward on plans to construct a new facility in the 35763- zip code to keep pace with residential development and southeastern Madison County's unprecedented population growth," said Congressman Dale Strong. "My constituents should be able to count on the postal service to deliver mail securely and on time, and I am hopeful this new facility will accomplish just that," said Strong.

From day one, Congressman Strong immediately began raising concerns with USPS leadership regarding ongoing mail service issues across North Alabama. He has consistently pressed the agency to address delivery delays, staffing shortages, facility limitations, and long-standing zip code and routing issues affecting residents throughout the Fifth District.

"While this is a step in the right direction for the residents of the 35763-zip code, there is more work to be done across North Alabama. I will continue to press USPS leadership for improved staffing, upgraded facilities, and better mail processing operations so that every community in our district receives the reliable service they deserve," said Strong.

Over the past three years, Congressman Strong has built a proven record of advocating for improved postal service throughout North Alabama, including:

  • Leading the push for a new post office to serve the rapidly growing 35763 zip code.
  • Pressing USPS to establish a standalone North Alabama-based processing and distribution facility to strengthen regional mail operations, including sending letters to former Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and meeting with USPS executives to highlight service gaps.
  • Securing congressional language requiring USPS to evaluate its consolidation of Huntsville's Processing and Distribution Center, ensuring the agency reviews delivery delays and reports back to Congress.
  • Obtaining an appropriations provision directing USPS to conduct an internal assessment of inaccurate address listings and overlapping zip code designations, including the long-standing issues affecting residents in Priceville, Alabama.
  • Assisting hundreds of constituents with mail service issues by working cases related to lost, delayed, or misrouted mail.
