Ricoh invests in next-generation AI talent with new graduate role

London, UK, 6 November 2025 - Ricoh UK has announced the creation of a new, fixed-term graduate role focused on AI, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing the next generation of digital talent while accelerating the responsible use of AI across its business.

The inaugural appointment, Kai Braithwaite, will work directly with the company's Board, reporting into Chris Hopton, CEO of Ricoh UK and Northern Europe. The role will be renewed annually as an ongoing investment in future-focused capability development.

Chris Hopton, CEO of Ricoh UK and Northern Europe, commented: "AI is transforming every industry, and the real differentiator will be how well organisations empower people to use it effectively. Kai's appointment marks an important step in embedding AI capability across Ricoh, ensuring our teams are equipped to use data and emerging technology to make better, faster decisions. But it also signals our belief that the future of work depends on creating opportunities for young people to lead the change, not just adapt to it."

Over the coming months, Kai will be embedded within Ricoh UK, where his objective will be to help drive and improve AI utilisation across the business, providing insights and delivering AI improvement strategies across various functions.

During his first three months, Kai will work with the finance team, focusing on enhancing data quality for forecasting and scenario planning, promoting data democracy and governance, and exploring the potential of AI, including a product review of AI-integrated systems for commercial finance.

Kai said: "I've been really inspired by how forward-thinking Ricoh is, especially in its focus on AI and digital innovation. My role centres on exploring the strategic opportunities AI presents, and I'm thrilled to be developing my skills through the 'Digital and AI Support' qualification that Ricoh has sponsored. The transition from education to full-time work has been far smoother than I expected, thanks to the incredible support and encouragement from colleagues across the business. It's clear that Ricoh is deeply invested in nurturing the next generation of talent, and I'm excited to keep learning, growing, and contributing to its vision over the next 16 months."

Ricoh's latest investment in AI talent reflects its belief in the opportunity AI represents both to drive smarter ways of working and to empower the next generation with the skills required for the future world of work.

FAQs

What does an AI Graduate role actually involve day-to-day?

Working with senior leaders and strategic stakeholders, looking externally for best practice and opportunities for us to expand and improve what we do, consulting with the business to drive AI projects forward.

Which teams or streams could I join, and how do rotations work?

The role will be rotating across the majority of our board directors, mainly sales and service, in the coming months and year. Each rotation will have a project focus looking at our AI adoption and development. As all internal projects are managed by our Business Excellence team, the role is "anchored" under our Head of Business Excellence, this helps us drive consistency and continuous excellence.

Do I need a specific degree to apply?

No specific degree is necessary, however you must have a clear eye for strategic detail and project work. Some knowledge or awareness of AI is useful but not essential. We are looking for the disruptors, the natural innovators and strategic problem solvers.

How will I be supported as I build my career in AI consulting?

The role is accompanied by an apprenticeship suitable according to your prior learning and career ambitions.
