Marquette Business announces new Business Analytics minor

Marquette Business will launch a new Business Analytics minor in Fall 2026, expanding the reach of one of its fastest-growing areas of study. Built from the existing Business Analytics major's proven curriculum, this minor invites any Marquette student to develop in-demand analytical skills.

While the Business Analytics major remains exclusive to business students, the new minor opens Marquette's analytic coursework beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries. The minor gives all students the opportunity to engage with data-driven decision-making regardless of their primary field of study.

"We're very excited to launch the Business Analytics minor this fall," says Dr. Badar Al Lawati, program director. "The addition of this minor will make it possible for students pursuing any major to experience business analytics curricula and increase their exposure to this rapidly evolving field."

The minor, which will be housed in the Department of Supply Chain and Systems Intelligence, will equip students with the knowledge and tools to analyze complex datasets, make informed decisions and drive strategic business outcomes. By emphasizing hands-on learning that simulates real business scenarios, the business analytics minor will give students the skills to make high-impact, data-driven decisions.

"In today's data-driven world, the ability to transform raw data into actionable insights is an in-demand skill in every industry," says Dr. Mark Barratt, chair of the Department of Supply Chain and Systems Intelligence. "For this reason, the Business Analytics minor can complement nearly any major and educational path here at Marquette. The skills students will learn are highly transferrable."
