Get ready to cast a line! The City of Santa Fe's Fishing Derby is coming to Nichols Reservoir on Saturday, September 26.
The Fishing Derby is open only to City of Santa Fe residents. Because space is limited, participation will be determined through a registration lottery. The event can accommodate up to 150 children, each with one accompanying adult.
How the Registration Lottery Works
Step 1: Enter the Lottery
The registration lottery will open at 9 a.m. on Friday, September 11, and close at 9 p.m. on Monday, September 14. Each lottery entry is limited to one child and one accompanying adult.
Step 2: Random Selection
After registration closes, participants will be randomly selected from the entries received.
Step 3: Check Your Email
Those selected for a spot will be notified by email by September 17 with additional event information.
Visit the Fishing Derby webpage for registration information and event updates.
Connecting the Next Generation to Santa Fe's Water
The Fishing Derby is an opportunity to introduce the next generation to the source of Santa Fe's water and encourage an understanding of the importance of protecting this resource for the future.
Nichols Reservoir is part of the Upper Santa Fe River Watershed, an important component of Santa Fe's water supply and natural environment. By giving young people an opportunity to experience the watershed firsthand, the event can help foster an appreciation for the responsibility of protecting this resource for generations to come.
