City Council of Cathedral City Honors Police Team for Solving Teen Murder Case

The Cathedral City Council recognized nine members of the Cathedral City Police Department Tuesday evening for their exceptional investigative work in solving the murder of 13-year-old Alan Martinez.

The tragic shooting occurred on August 14, 2025, in the area of Whispering Palms Trail and Mission Indian Trail, shocking the community and prompting an immediate response from local law enforcement.

Through diligent detective work and coordinated investigative efforts, the CCPD team successfully identified and apprehended two suspects-James Ian Carter, 19, and Christian Arturo Milward Idelfonso, 18-who were arrested in San Diego just five days after the incident.
