Strong August Sales Help American Honda Reach 1 Million Mark in Eight Months

- American Honda (AHM) posted sales of 133,996 units in August, up 1.0% for the month and up 3.5% YTD, despite two fewer selling days and without Labor Day holiday boost (compared to 2025).
- AHM surpasses 1 million sales mark in August (1,027,465 units), a month earlier than in 2025.
- Honda brand August sales reached 122,174 units (+0.4%), driven by strong passenger-car sales (+10.1%) and record hybrid vehicle sales, putting the brand up 3.4% YTD.
- Acura brand sales were up 6.5% in August (11,822 units), a 4.4% increase YTD, led by MDX and gateway models.

Sales Highlights

Honda brand sales reached 122,174 units in August, up 3.4% YTD, driven by record hybrid sales and strong passenger car and light truck sales.
- Hybrid sales set a new August record of 36,776 units, up 9.2% YTD bolstered by CR-V hybrid posting a record August.
- Honda passenger car sales maintained strong momentum, up 10.1% in August (41,056 units), marking the best August for Accord since 2020 (18,691 units), Civic surpassed 20,000 units (21,976) for the 6th straight month and Prelude posted its best month with 389 units.
- CR-V continues its reign as the #1 SUV in America in 2026, reaching August sales of more than 37,000 units, up 10.2% for the month and up 8.3% YTD, on pace for its third straight record year.
- Honda light truck sales topped 81,118 units, with Passport sales up 16% for the month setting a new August record and its second-best month of all-time.
- Pilot (9,978 units) is averaging over 10,000 units per month this year, HR-V (14,251 units) posted its best month since March 2025 and Odyssey maintained its strong sales pace in the minivan segment with 6,945 units.
Sales Highlights
- Acura sales increased 6.5% in August, with sales of 11,822 for the month for 4.4% growth YTD, driven by strong sales of gateway models and the MDX.
- ADX posted 3,015 units in August, on growth of 17.4%. ADX continues to lead its segment with retail share of around 30%.
- Integra sales in August were up 20.5% (2,102 units), dominating its segment with over 40% of retail market share.
- Acura SUV sales topped 9,700 units on growth of 16.5%, led by the flagship Acura MDX (5,016 units), up 66.3% for the month and 21.3% YTD.
