Senator Marshall Applauds $79 Million in Rural Health Dollars Awarded to Kansas Hospitals

Washington - U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas), celebrated the awarding of $79 million in rural health dollars to 38 healthcare organizations around the state of Kansas. These funds will be available to sustain vital high-quality healthcare access in rural Kansas, promote preventative healthcare, increase provider efficiency and sustainability, and support workforce and technology.

"As a physician and former hospital CEO in Great Bend, I know better than anyone the unique challenges facing healthcare in our rural communities," said Senator Marshall. "I am excited to have an administration that is not only supporting rural healthcare, but also using grant dollars to incentivize innovative methods to prevent and treat root causes of disease before they become severe. I look forward to seeing these dollars transform rural health in Kansas by giving hospitals the funds they need to provide high-quality care to our most rural patients."

Senator Marshall supported the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) authorized by the Working Families Tax Cuts Act last year to restore rural healthcare. Additionally, in November, Senator Marshall sent a letter to CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz supporting Kansas's application for RHTP funding, resulting in Kansas receiving the sixth-highest amount of award funds in the nation.
