HARRISBURG - Rep. Kristin Marcell (R-Bucks) released the following statement on the passage of a bipartisan Pennsylvania state budget:
"This year's budget comes from bipartisan compromise and delivers responsible government without raising taxes or tapping into the Rainy Day Fund.
"We kept our commitment to Pennsylvania families by controlling spending to prevent any tax increases and focusing on making key investments where they matter most.
"As part of this deal, we will repeal the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) regulations that have increased energy costs and have negatively impacted our energy sector. This will give our energy industry the jump start it needs to grow to meet the increasing energy demands of Pennsylvanians and our country as a whole.
"This budget continues my strong commitment to making education stronger in Pennsylvania by providing record investments in basic education, increasing investment in Career Technical Education (CTE), and supporting new programs to help students trapped in consistently failing schools escape to better educational opportunities.
"We also included important reforms to Medicaid that protect taxpayers and preserve care for those who truly need it, while saving hundreds of millions of dollars through better eligibility reviews.
"Pennsylvanians expect us to govern wisely. This budget will meet our obligations without risking our long-term financial stability."
