2026 Rental/Lease Agreement webinar to walk housing providers through key updates

The CAA Rental/Lease Agreement is at the center of the landlord-tenant relationship, making it essential for housing providers to understand how each provision works and how recent updates affect day-to-day operations.

The California Apartment Association will host a 2026 Rental/Lease Agreement Webinar at 10 a.m. Jan. 28. The live webinar will provide a paragraph-by-paragraph explanation of the entire CAA Rental/Lease Agreement, including changes and updates for 2026.

The program is designed to help rental housing providers better understand not only what the agreement says, but how specific provisions apply in real-world situations, particularly as compliance requirements continue to evolve.

Topics to be covered during the webinar include revisions to the form of CAA's Rental/Lease Agreement addenda for 2026, mandatory notices required under AB 1482, and rent payment provisions, including new language clarifying the use of the Temporary Rent Discount Addendum.

The webinar will also address security deposit provisions, including new 2026 language allowing agreements regarding how deposits are returned, as well as common prohibitions related to marijuana use, smoking, pets, grills and other activities.

Additional topics include the incorporation of separate addenda - such as water conservation, unlawful activity and political signs - attorney fee provisions, and mandatory disclosures related to bed bugs, flood hazards and Megan's Law.

The webinar will be presented live, with an option for registrants to access an on-demand recording afterward. The estimated course length is 1½ hours.

Registration is now open. The cost is $45 for members and $85 for nonmembers for the live webinar, or $55 for members and $95 for nonmembers for live and on-demand access.
