Pete Moore Chevrolet generously donated two brand new Chevrolet Colorado pickup trucks to the Pensacola Beach Lifeguards today, Friday, June 12, as part of the "Safe Shores" program, which aims to continue improving safety and rescue operations on Pensacola Beach.
District 4 Commissioner Ashlee Hofberger, Pensacola Beach Lifeguards, and Escambia County Public Safety recognized the Pete Moore Chevrolet team for their donation and commitment to public safety during a ceremony today at Casino Beach.
The new four-wheel drive pickup trucks will be added to the Pensacola Beach Lifeguards fleet of vehicles, which includes 14 other vehicles previously donated by Pete Moore Chevrolet. The local business has generously donated vehicles to Pensacola Beach Lifeguards regularly since 2004.
"Pete Moore Chevrolet has played such a vital role in making our beaches safer, and we cannot thank them enough for their support and generosity over the years," Commissioner Hofberger said. "Public safety is always Escambia County's number one priority, and seeing our local businesses take initiative through programs like 'Safe Shores' highlights our shared commitment to building a safer community together."
The "Safe Shores" program is a multi-level public awareness campaign designed to increase safety while decreasing swimming accidents on Pensacola Beach. The campaign consists of weekday flag reports in multiple newscasts on WEAR-ABC 3. These public safety announcements, named "Moore Safe Shores," will help reinforce the Pensacola Beach Warning Flag system. The continued goal of "Safe Shores" is to help educate the public on beach safety and dangerous surf conditions.
"We appreciate the kindness and support the Pete Moore Chevrolet team has shown by providing us with these two vehicles, in addition to their many vehicle donations over the past 20-plus years," Water Safety Chief Dave Greenwood said. "These brand-new trucks will be put to good use in supporting our mission to protect the thousands of beachgoers who visit and enjoy our beautiful Gulf beaches."
