Replacement of Roadway Illumination System on Route 9 in Cromwell

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the replacement of roadway illumination on Route 9 in Cromwell will be starting on Monday, October 5, 2026.

This project consists of the replacement of existing roadway lightings system on Route 9 from south of Coles Road through the Route 372 interchange in Cromwell.

DOT Project No. 0171-0508/0515 was awarded to Superior Electric, LLC at a cost of $8,972,815.00 on January 27, 2026, and is scheduled to be completed January 12, 2028. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District One in Rocky Hill.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

Lane closures on Route 9 in Cromwell can be expected Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, as well as some Saturdays and Sundays.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
