REP. GRAY STATEMENT ON PASSAGE OF CONTINUING RESOLUTION

WASHINGTON, DC - Representative Adam Gray (CA-13) released the following statement following the House's vote on a continuing resolution to fund the government through the end of the fiscal year.

"Government shutdowns are bad for the country. No responsible person wants the threat of shutdown to play so prominent a role in our process of funding the government.

"I didn't support the continuing resolution because it did not contain meaningful provisions to prevent premium price spikes for Americans. This CR neglected to extend health care premium tax credits that Valley families rely on for their coverage.

"I remain hopeful that the Senate, which must pass this legislation on a bipartisan basis, will craft a reasonable compromise that both keeps our government open and protects Americans from spikes in their health care costs.

"I've introduced a bill to maintain premium tax credits and protect coverage for Americans covered by Medicaid. I look forward to continued work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to get this done and reach a bipartisan agreement."

Representative Gray recently introduced the Protecting Health Care and Lowering Costs Act of 2025 to extend the Affordable Care Act's premium tax credits and restore Medicaid funding in the wake of the partisan reconciliation bill. The legislation has over 80 cosponsors and has been referred to the House Committee on Ways and Means and the House Committee on Energy and Commerce for further consideration.
