On the new dietary guidelines:

"Yeah, Susan, I just left HHS, and I can just tell you, I've never seen so much excitement, and this is one of the reasons I came to the Senate. Look, America is so hungry for a new food pyramid. And Secretary Kennedy, Secretary Rollins, their team, Dr. Makary have flipped that pyramid upside down and turned it into a triangle. And I think one of the big winners here will be beef and pork, as well as the dairy industry that that is big promotion of whole milk and full-fat, fatty milk products like cheese and yogurt as well. But the real winners, I think, are the American people, that we were going to put food back in the center of our health, and rather than trying to have a new drug to treat diabetes, let's slow down the diabetes. Maybe 40-50% of our kids have diabetes. A third of them are diabetic. So, I'm just an exciting day for us. And you know this MAHA movement is thanks to all of our MAHA moms. Look, my grandmothers were MAHA before they knew what it was. My mother could have written this book. This is really simple. These new nutrition guides are about eating real food, the food that you and I were raised on, food from our own gardens, from our own fruit trees, from our from our own chickens."

On the chronic disease epidemic:

"Yeah, I think that 90% of our money is spent on chronic diseases right now, and there is great evidence to suggest that if we can address the chronic disease epidemic through food, that we're going to be healthier, that will have less obesity, less diabetes, less heart disease, all those types of things. And I think what you know, maybe the science before, like 40 years ago, they suggested more carbohydrates, and what happened is they turned those carbohydrates into Ultra processed food, food you get out of a box. And what the science today says, look, if God made it, it's good. If it's something that we grew in our farms without being altered, it's going to be much healthier for you that there are nutrients in that food, those whole foods that you and I, that science hasn't even measured yet. So, the science clearly says that fresh or frozen, unprocessed is much healthier, leads to less heart disease, and by the way, it tastes better too."

On the effects for small farms:

"Number one is there were grocery stores are now going to be required, if you participate in staff, to stock your grocery stores with more whole foods, more fresh foods. As we're working on the school lunches and the senior citizen lunches and all those things that the government helps involved with, we're going to really promote fresh from the farm to the plate, as they say. So, we realize that may be a little bit more expensive than box food, but we'll get the money back on the end, when we're not spending as much on Medicaid and Medicare, those types of things as well. So, I think it's going to really help. The small part farmers, those ones that want to take the extra time to use more natural fertilizers, those types of things, to be using less pesticides, all those types of things. So, I'm really excited, I think, for the small farmers as they have a better direct connection to the grocery stores, to the schools, those types of things."

On the Farm Bill:

"First, I want to thank President Trump. He's getting $12 billion more out the door. So far, President Trump has given the American farmers $40 billion. The majority of the work on the farm bill has been done in our Working Family Tax Cuts Bill. We already doubled the amount of money that we were spending on crop insurance from the federal government, and we raised the reference prices as well. So, the good news is 89% of the Farm Bill is already done. I don't think we'd have a government shutdown. There's a lot of things in the air right now, but the Democrats know as well as Republicans that no one wins during a government shutdown. So onward and upward."

On the passing of Congressman LaMalfa:

"Yeah, big Doug. You know, I actually just saw him at HHS a couple weeks ago. Both of us believe that boys should not compete in girls' sports or be in their locker room. So, we spent a lot of time on that legislation, but we were on the ag committee together over in the house. You know, I remember the Palisades fires in California, and that was in his district, and just what a trying time that was in his life, as basically the whole city was burnt to the ground. And I don't remember 40-60 lives lost. It was a lot, but Doug was, he was, he was a big guy and but very compassionate. Had a huge heart, loved his district, loved his family, and we'll miss him. So, God bless Doug's family. And I know the President's having the flags fly at half-mast around here too."
