How Chevron is producing more jet fuel to meet growing demand
Global air travel is expected to more than double from 2024 to 2050, according to the International Air Transport Association. And more people taking to the skies will require more jet fuel.
At Chevron's Richmond Refinery, Trenton Otto, a team lead in Chevron's Fuels Conversion Research & Development organization, and his colleagues have been working on a practical challenge: how to produce more jet fuel using equipment already in operation. Their solution is ICR 259, a catalyst technology that helps refineries increase jet fuel production without requiring major changes to equipment.
